Steaks just hafta be grilled

We're leaving Saturday for VACATION!! We're flying out Sat morning for Philly, and fly back the following Sat night. We spent hours and hours yesterday afternoon surfing for deals online. So far we've got our first and second night hotels booked, and the rental car. Our plan is to spend Sat and Sunday in Philly. Then we're going to Valley Forge, Hershey and Gettysburg. From there we're heading through Delaware over to Atlantic City on the Jersey Shore. (We've never passed up an opportunity for a casino!!) From there we're headed to Newark and will take the trains into NYC for several days to sight see there. The weather here has been unbelievable lately - so hopefully it will be unseasonably warm up there! I can't wait - I'm in desperate need of a vacation before I go postal at work!

The rest of Saturday was great. We relaxed a bit after the half, and it was SO nice we took Pippin for a 2 mile walk that afternoon. It's been in the upper 70's / low 80's here with a fantastic breeze. All the neighbors were outside so Pips got to play with his usual doggie friends and give some loving to the neighborhood kids. Sat night our friends P & S came over and we grilled out. It turns out that was our grill's swan song. We had some steaks in the fridge for Sunday lunch and when Brent came back in he said "Come out here, don't let Pippin out, we're not having steaks for lunch". He said it so frantically that I thought he said "Come out here, don't let Pippin out, we're not having sex" and I was thinking " WHAT?? It's a beautiful day and all but there's no way we're having sex on the deck with all our nosy neighbors around!" Basically, our grill disintegrated and he had it all over the deck. Well, the coal/metal pieces on the inside did. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. He said it had been burning weird for a while, and considering we paid about $120 for it 6 years ago we've gotten our money's worth. During a frustrating moment at work today figured out the approximate number of times it's been used and each of our grilling experiences cost us about .38 so it's definitely time for that grill to be put out to pasture. We grill out year round, no matter the temp. Hopefully there will still be some grills out to be purchased, that's the only thing I'm concerned about. So, we didn't have steaks (which we were pretty disappointed about) and we had BBQ sandwiches instead. We spent some quality time in the yard (it was TOO gorgeous not to) and ran Pippin around the lawn. We even managed to catch the end of the NYC Marathon. What an amazing finish for the elite men! Crazy!! I think they should have held hands and run across together. Also, can you even imagine running that fast???? Their forms are just amazing.

Tonight we did our usual 5.3 miler in right at a 45 minute pace. The weather was perfect! For some reason the main sidewalk smelled like poop, but other than that everything was great. I ran for the second time in my new Pearls and I think I'm going to really like them. They seem like they may have a little more cushioning than my Mizunos.

Well, it's time to get some sleep!

That stretch of sidewalk ALWAYS smells like poop. Your sniffer if off because you never notice it.

Bringing your running stuff to NYC? Maybe I'll join you for a few miles.

(That is if I'm capable of running by then. Considering that I'm having trouble just walking now, maybe coffee would be a better idea!)
