Week 2 in Review

Hey everyone! I hope you all had great Easter weekends! This will prob be short due to the sleeping baby on my chest and I'm not so great typing with one hand!

Here's how Week 2 (last week) went:

Sunday: Killer Butt DVD (45 minutes)
Mon: 4.5 miles
Tues: 4.25 miles, Perf Abs (17 mins)
Wed: 4.25 miles, Perf Abs (17 mins)
Thurs: 4.25 miles, Aft stroll w/ friend + Lilli (prob a mile)
Fri: 3.25 miles
Sat: No formal, but we walked several miles at Opryland Hotel

Total run: 20.5 miles versus goal of 20 miles!

So once again I hit my goal and am back to my usual mileage (when I'm not training for anything!). I'm still focusing on getting back into shape and for right now am not adding a long run in. I wish I had had more time to tone, but it can be really tough to motivate myself to do that late in the evening when I'm tired from wrangling Lilli all day! It can also be tough to motivate myself to run first thing in the morning, but I'm just focusing on the weight loss and I know it will be worth all the hard work! I'm down to just 8 more pounds to go, so I'm getting there!!!!! I've got 2.5 more weeks off, and then it's back to work! It will be so great to see all my lunchtime workout buddies again!

Take care!!!

Week 1 in Review

Happy Monday!! Week 1 of my "comeback" went great, as well as I could really expect. I feel like if I keep making myself do my toughest workout first thing in the am while Lilli (normally) takes a pretty decent nap I can make a good go of it. Here's how it ended up for the week:

Sunday: Burn and Firm Pilates DVD (50 mins)
M: 3.5 miles, Walking with Stroller (prob 2 miles), Perf Abs DVD (17 mins)
T: 4 miles, Perf Abs DVD (17 mins)
W: 4 miles
Th: 4 miles, Perf Abs
F: 2 miles, Walk with Stroller (prob 2 miles)
Sat: Rest Day (but still walked 1 mile to go out for ice cream!)

My goal for the week was 17 run miles and I ended with 17.5 so that's a Win! My weekly weight loss goal is 3 lbs, and I ended up losing 2 pounds. (The previous wk I lost 3). I can't be upset with that, 2 pounds is still something and makes a big difference in how things are fitting. I wasn't horribly upset with the Easter dress size I ended up buying, either. It's still not my goal size at all, but much better than the awful size I was in just 3 weeks ago. All that to say, I still have 11 pounds to lose and hope I can do most of that in these last 4 weeks I have off.

A lot of spring showers kept Lilli and I from strolling as much as we usually do. She even had her first "take cover in the closet" during one severe round Thurs afternoon. It really didn't seem like a bad one to me, but with her here I wanted to keep us all safe. (On a side note Brent couldn't believe I didn't snap a few pics of me, Pippin and Lilli in the closet - that really WASN'T priority #1 at the time!!)

It's still certainly not easy to get running in with a 10 wk old around. Some runs involved me popping off the dreadmill a billion times to replace a paci, swaddle a fussy, sleepy baby, and there were a few times things in the dining room fell and crashed - like Pippin's dog food on one very happy morning for him! Nothing like finishing a run smelling like sweat mixed with 5 pounds of Iams dog food. But, I am very committed to getting back in shape and as much as I dread my solitary morning runs in a stuffy dining room it's just what HAS to be done.

Have a great week!

Week 0

Hey everyone! So getting back into the running game is going GREAT! Yay!!! I consider this week my first "real" week back, but I did start getting back into my routine last week, I just decided I wouldn't start logging it until now. So, with last week considered Week 0 and just a warmup, here's how I did:

Mon: (I don't remember! Prob Killer Butt!)
Tues: 3 miles running
Wed: 3.25 miles running
Thurs: Killer Butt DVD
Fri: 3.75 miles running
Sat: 4 miles running

Anyway, for the week I ended up with 14 run miles. I also walk a couple miles with Lilli most afternoons, if it's not raining or we're not out shopping. And I did several abs toning sessions. I lost about 3 pounds, which was my goal for the week. I didn't write it all down so I don't remember, but this week I'm starting to log my workouts again and keep up with it all. Last week's #1 goal was to gradually build my mileage back up to my normal weekday 4 miles, now it's to maintain and work on speed. This week's goal for running is 17 miles and I'm already 11.5 miles in, so I'm well on my way.

I run in the mornings first thing after Lilli's first bottle (sometime between 6:30-7:30). She naps best in the morning, so instead of slunking back to bed I get my booty on my awful treadmill and sweat it out. I have the tiniest little treadmill - seriously we paid about $200 for it about 6 years ago - I've gotten that out of it and much, much more! It's hard to go fast, it's really intended more for walking, but I'm thankful I have it right here while I need it. It's much easier than toting a baby down to the Y, trying to hit a good time between feedings and their limited nursery schedule. When I'm back to work (4.5 more weeks) it should be easier since I'll be back to my lunchtime workouts at the Y. I do my toning sessions in the evening when Brent's home. So, all that to say it is easily possible to work out with a baby, and not take time away from anyone.

It feels great to be running again and work up a proper sweat!!!! Every week I fit it another thing or two from my "Fat Rachel" closet, and I'm REALLY looking forward to fitting into some of my "Regular Rachel" clothes, hopefully before I go back to work!

And of course I have to leave you with another pic!
